SUN, SAND AND FUN

On the big coastline of Costa da Caparica are a lot of activities possible. You can take surf lessons (almost all the schools have English speaking instructors). Childrens' surf lessons are very popular too. Our own children take some trips on the waves every year and they have big fun. The age to start is perfectly as of 6 years. Offcourse they rent out surf materials and so you can jump into the waves by yourselfs!

A couple of beaches away from Costa da Caparica you can go for kitesurfing which is very popular.

At a lot of nice spots you can go fishing and if you see others fishing, they love to spend time speaking and fishing with you. You will see you are more than welcome to join. Children love to see fish being caught and the fishermen like the children watching!

When on the beach you must not be suprised as a sudden there are coming tractors on the beach! The tractors are coming to get the fishing boats out of the water and helping to get the fishnets to get on the beach. This is a big allurement and you will see a lot of beach visitors going to see the spectacle. If one of your children see a fishman with a starfish and they love to have it, just ask for it and you will get them for free! Just smile back at the fisherman and he is happy like you are.

Like to shop? You found your paradise! On lesser than 5km from the house your will find a huge shopping mall with the name Forum Almada. Here you will find a supermarket with 50 tills where you can find all you can imagine. (Yes, even you typical home products!) Besides the supermarket you will find 254 shops, like big brands but also the smaller and traditional ones. The top floor is a food court. Do not miss Lisbon's shopping streets and malls (Vasco da Gama and Colombo are very nice shopping malls).

Are you looking for some souvenirs you will find them in Costa da Caparica on the street, Rua dos Pescadores and the  boulevard near the beach. Here you will also find a couple of small supermarkets. Go and have a breakfast at the bakery, like the portuguese do.

In July and August every year there is a small art crafts market in Costa da Caparica with a fair for the childeren. It is nice but just imagine there is not too much for.
